Jacques Brel is kind of a big deal. And Silo has been in love with him for almost forever — we’ve had his songs on our playlist since 2005.
Jacques the lad grew up in a family that owned a cardboard box empire, but went on to write some of the most extraordinary songs of the last century. Like mini three-act plays told in three minutes, his songs are timeless anthems which brim with attitude and heart-on-your-sleeve expressionism.
In his world, life can hurt, youth can die, understanding can heal and love can change everything. From Amsterdam to Ne Me Quitte Pas, these are songs worth singing. They’re narratives that transcend time and place. They connect.
