Job Opportunity — Executive Director
Job Opportunity — Executive Director
Silo Theatre
04.05.2021
This Job Opportunity has been filled.
Haere mai i runga i te taurā nui o Awatea
This past year has been a turbulent, difficult ride. For many in the arts sector, it’s been a period of considerable contemplation — one that has sharpened our instincts and accelerated our hunger for good storytelling, collective gathering, and innovation.
In 2021, Silo Theatre are excited to be presenting works in unusual spaces, in technologically experimental forms, grounded in contemporary stories that are playful, confronting, and unforgettable.
We’re also continuing to ask ourselves how we can contribute to a healthier sector, and part of that has been looking at the pathways and opportunities available to many of our practitioners. With these values being central to her practice, our Executive Director, Jessica Smith, has made the decision to leave. After more than a decade’s service, during which time she has nourished and supported the company in radical, essential ways — we will be very sad to see Jess go. However, like Jess, we also see the value in creating space for a new leader within the arts.
We’re looking for an experienced producer who understands and appreciates te ao Māori and has confidence moving through many worlds — including Moana Oceania and migrant communities. They need to have a strong vision for the future, an instinct for making considered decisions that push boundaries, and naturally embodies our commitment to Te Tiriti as well as our values of excellence, manaakitanga, innovation, inclusion and courage.
Your responsibilities will include setting and managing the organisation’s strategic and operational goals (including the financial, legal, marketing, staffing and administrative aspects of the company) and working with the Artistic Director, Sophie Roberts, to identify programming opportunities, artistic partnerships, and new commissions.
