Audition Call – seven methods of killing kylie jenner
Silo Theatre
15.02.2022
Silo Theatre is currently taking submissions for our upcoming season of Jasmine Lee-Jones’ seven methods of killing kylie jenner, directed by Keagan Carr Fransch.
In 2019, Kylie Jenner becomes the youngest ‘self-made’ billionaire in history. It’s 4am and Cleo — @INCOGNEGRO — is mad as hell. Self-made? Please. From the corner of her bedroom, she unleashes a tweetstorm which rapidly veers out of her control. When her best friend Kara tries to talk her down, the conversation turns inwards: “I’m just saying,” she remarks, “You’re not perfect,” “And?” Cleo responds. “Neither are you.”
Premiering at London’s Royal Court Theatre in 2019 and receiving the Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright and the Stage Debut Award for Best Writer, Jasmine Lee-Jones’ seven methods of killing kylie jenner is a knife-sharp debut, deftly dissecting the politics of friendship, cancel culture, colourism and cultural appropriation.

Contextual overview/performance notes for confirmed auditionees:
This play deals with, among many other things, misogynoir, cultural appropriation, colourism and the bounds of friendship between Black womxn. It is also warm, tender, and darkly funny. So while the material may be heavy and relatable to womxn of the diaspora, we would like the actors to focus on being light and playful with each other, and to embrace this chance to be loud, proud and cheeky. Keep this in mind when embodying the memes; have fun with it.
Audition requirements:
Actors are not required to be off-book, but please read the full script of the play, and be familiar with the audition scenes.
In keeping with Silo’s Covid-19 Vaccination Policy we require all board members, staff and contractors to be fully vaccinated. At the audition actors will be required to present their vaccine pass and scan into the venue using the Covid-19 tracer app.
Auditions will be held in Auckland on Friday 4 March and Saturday 5 March.
