By David Greig
In the fallout of one horrific act, Claire, a liberal priest and choir leader, is forced to question the nature of evil and battle with the concept of forgiveness. It’s a journey that will take her to the edge of reason, science, politics and faith.
Dramatist David Greig’s award-winning 2013 play pushes theatrical form to tell a daring story that has polarised audiences around the world.
Each night, a different choir from the Auckland region performs, providing an evocative musical score spanning traditional choral hymns to Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar. These choirs discover The Events at the same time as you, the audience, drawing into focus the responsibility and power of community in the face of unspeakable tragedy.
Sublime, masterful and necessary, this is an experience that can only happen in the theatre.
