Job Opportunity – Artistic Director
Silo Theatre
15.10.2024
As Silo Theatre approaches three decades of live theatre storytelling in Aotearoa, we are looking for a new Artistic Director to join our team and build on this legacy.
Alongside the Executive Director, this role will co-lead the company and creatively steer Silo Theatre’s next chapter. The successful applicant will have a strong vision for the future of Aotearoa live performing arts, an exceptional body of work as a theatre-maker, a solid understanding of theatre producing, and will bring a network of artistic relationships with them. The incoming Artistic Director will play a pivotal role in setting our programming approach in response to our new strategic vision (2026 - 2040), which is currently in development.
We are excited to receive applications from across the theatre sector - directors, writers, performers, creative producers, programmers, designers. Although the job description has been designed to give applicants a clear sense of the core responsibilities of this role, we are open to applications that propose new interpretations of what our company’s creative leadership might look like.

EOI Questions:
→ What is one thing that you see yourself bringing to support Silo’s next creative evolution as a company? Why is this important within our current landscape?
→ What do you see as your three main strengths within the job description, and where do you think you would need some support to strengthen your skills?
→ Choose three live performing arts experiences: one you’ve loved recently; your all-time favourite; and one you’re proud to have worked on/made. How do these reflect your values as a theatre-maker?
What to expect from the recruitment process:
→ End of Nov 2024: A shortlist of successful applicants will be decided on by a panel including Silo’s Executive Director, a Silo trustee, and two industry leaders.
